Summer Session

I’m so excited to share this Great Salt Lake family session! Growing up in Utah for most of my life, I had never been to the Great Salt lake or driven by it. I have only seen it from the airplane window and I guess I called that good enough. Let me tell you, I did not anticipate…the smell. Oh boy, was it awful. Haha. There were people everywhere and we were in the middle of the summer heat wave, so we were saving every drop of water for the kiddos!

Great Salt Lake Family Session

Backstory time. Rachel and I have been friends since the 7th grade. We had a mutual friend and she was in my gym class. We introduced ourselves, by way of this mutual friend, before a morning jog around the middle school field and the rest is history. We’ve stayed friends through some hard times and a lot of really great times and I can honestly say that she is the very best kind of friend anyone could ask for. She has been my Disneyland partner in crime, college roommate, sidewalk chalking, rainy puddle jumping, ugly dancing (ugly describes me, she is an excellent dancer), late night talking best friend and I’m so grateful to have her in my life. And she talks in her sleep….I think that it’s the absolute best quality in a sleeping college roommate. Especially because she gives real, hilarious, juicy details while dreaming.

Now, their family! Seriously, kids don’t get cuter. I love 5 year olds because they will work so hard for a new pen and notepad if bribed and I love almost 2 year olds because nothing could bribe them to stay still for a single second! When one stands perfectly, the other has his face in the sand. When one is smiling, the other is crying. I brought hot wheels for a distraction, but they ended up being the only thing worth any attention. It wasn’t until almost the end that I remembered I had a phone….and it had Cars (the movie) on it! From them on we had a perfectly behaved little boy on our hands. You better believe that we had the most perfectly behaved 5 year old who earned every ounce of her prize!

Don’t be fooled either. Although it looks like we had the beach all to ourselves, there were people everywhere. Photographers littered the sand and it felt like we were practically melting. I’m so glad the sunset was showing off for us that night because their couples photos – I’m dying over them!

To the Forsgren family, thank you! It was so hot and we had to do a lot of chasing, but these beautiful faces were 1000% worth every effort! Love you guys and I can’t wait to hang out all night again soon! I miss laughing that hard!
