Hudson Mills Family Session
You know that moment that you commit to family pictures and you think that God may have created an ongoing practical joke with all of humankind because the best time for family pictures is at the worst times of day and you keep asking yourself, “Why?!”
Mom’s with little kids, I get you! One gazillion percent. I’m also here to say, “Parents, you are all rockstars!”
REWIND!
If only we could go back to when we were three. Dinner time and exhausted from playing all day (if only we really could go back there, right?! We wouldn’t have to cook!) and the last thing you want to do is smile for someone that’s just over the top trying too hard to get you to show your teeth in an attractive way. They’re moving your body in ways that feel weird, they’re tugging at your hair, telling you to sit still and all you want to do is get up and explore – jump off the nearest boulder and have a little fun.
Guess what?! Three year old you would be right! That is fun!
This family has such a special place in my heart. I taught joy school to their daughter (who also happens to be my daughters best friend), we go camping together, stay up way too late together, the list goes on. We know each other so well that there is no reason for the kids to be anything but over the moon excited for family pictures, right? RIGHT? Something happens at 5:00 to bring out the cutest grumpy faces I’ve ever seen, honestly, they had me laughing all night. I’m glad I remembered that the three year old is right. Exploring is more fun. So, we’d take a few pictures and then explore! By the end of the night you would have never known that a case of the grumps were ever present. We had so much fun taking pictures, jumping off rocks, running around trees, and earning that triumphant play time at the playground everyone was promised.
Thanks friends, for letting me document all of these fun family moments! I seriously giggled at the computer screen the entire edit just watching your kids’ faces! I have so many favorites from this session that’s hard for me to choose just one all time fav. Good luck choosing yours!
